Originally a Methodist church built in 1889, the Old Church B&B had a rich history before it landed in the hands of Harry Wever and Christelle Moller.
With original hoop pine and eucalypt hardwood timber, the Old Church B&B retains the rich history of this Scenic Rim landmark while offering guests a contemporary bed and breakfast experience filled with a lifetime of character and stories.
Harry has lived in the Scenic Rim for 13 years after purchasing the historic Old Church in 2007, with a clear vision in mind.
“I wanted to create a one of a kind, traditional English bed and breakfast in the area,” Harry said.
“The area has so much to offer, it is a very friendly community.”
Since opening the business, Harry says he has met wonderful people from the community as well as those who he has been able to show the district to.
Harry and Christelle have added extensions to the rear of the Old Church, including three bedrooms with ensuites, a living area and a new kitchen as well as transforming the old shed into a self-contained flat and workshop. The grounds surrounding the Old Church have been beautifully landscaped into gardens with cottage garden and native plants on display.
Just a short hour and a half drive from Brisbane and the Gold Coast, the Old Church attracts all types of visitors with couples, families and large groups regularly staying at this Milford favourite. The Old Church has, on limited occasions, hosted intimate bespoke weddings/receptions using the beautiful garden landscape and church hall. Christelle, with her experience as a marriage celebrant, provides a professional and personal quality.
Located conveniently just outside of Boonah, guests have the best of the Scenic Rim at their fingertips! Some of Harry’s favourite things about the region include the great pubs and cafes, wineries, bike riding trails and places to kayak in the area.
Harry’s top spot in the Scenic Rim, aside from the Old Church, is Lake Moogerah.
“It is a peaceful and beautiful place with stunning views of the mountains and great routes do some road biking around.” Harry said
