The Scenic Rim is a playground for fishing and watersport enthusiasts, with three popular dams at your fingertips. Moogerah, Maroon and Wyaralong Dams make great spots for wetting a line, jet skiing, kayaking, boating and water skiing.

Moogerah Dam is known as one of Queensland’s fishing hot spots, teeming with Australian Bass, Golden Perch, Silver Perch and Mary River Cod – just to name a few! It’s also the perfect place to cool down and go for a dip, or take your jet ski out for a spin on the water. Fishing permits are required and you can apply here.

If you want to get your boat on the water, the newest dam to the Scenic Rim is the place for you! Wyarlaong Dam is the ideal spot for zipping across the water or kayak fishing. With Carp and Bass calling the dam home, great fishing is guaranteed. No fishing permits are required at Wyaralong, but checking with Seqwater or your local fishing tackle shop is recommended. Make note that only electric motors are permitted in the dam.

Maroon Dam is a Scenic Rim favourite, with the widest species of fish on offer. Using live bait and utilising the structured areas along the dam is recommended by locals for securing the perfect catch. Kayakers love Maroon as well. Fishing permits are required and can be purchased here.
