Nicci Morgan is the Founder and Creative Director of Wedding Ceramics by PJ Pottery, launched at the 2022 Tamborine Mountain Wedding Expo. This niche business offers couples-to-be the choice of exquisite hand crafted ceramics for wedding gifts and favours or as bespoke wedding décor.
Her studio and onsite gallery are open by appointment in addition to open studio events that are promoted on the PJ Pottery website: pjpottery.com.au
Nicci has been involved with ceramics for almost 30 years, creating, exhibiting and teaching in NSW and Qld. In 2017 she quit her arts management job and moved to Qld to become a full -time potter, a decision she has never regretted. She established her brand PJ Pottery in 2018 and creates beautiful handmade pottery and offers pottery classes and workshops from her studio on Tamborine Mountain, Queensland.
As well as functional homeware, Nicci has been creating unique teapots for many years. In 2018 she honed her skills further by setting herself the goal of making 100 teapots in 6 months, for the Brisbane Finders Keepers Designer Market. Every teapot was individually crafted, no two exactly the same. It was at this time she started introducing Steampunk elements into her work. This art style is a fascinating mix of features from the Industrial Age, Punk, Medieval and mechanical parts, all married together into intriguing forms.
Nicci has held many solo and group exhibitions in NSW and Queensland. Her work was a selected finalist in the 2021 Siliceous Award for Ceramic Excellence. A milestone in her long career has been the recent win at the iconic 2022 Sydney Teapot Show for her tea-drinking Steampunk Jabberwocky teapot.
