Iron Hills Meadery is an artisan meadery dedicated to hand-crafting small-batch mead using traditional methods in a modern setting. Mead, often referred to as honey wine, is one of the world’s oldest alcoholic beverages and is made from fermented honey rather than grapes.
At Iron Hills Meadery we are passionate about showcasing the incredible honey produced in the Scenic Rim and surrounding regions. By working with locally sourced honey and incorporating seasonal fruits and botanicals where possible, our meads highlight the diverse flavours and character of the region’s produce. Each batch is carefully crafted to reflect the quality of the ingredients and the story behind the honey.
Our range of meads spans from dry to sweet and includes both traditional styles and fruit-forward melomels, offering something for seasoned mead drinkers and curious newcomers alike.
While we do not yet have a permanent tasting room within the Scenic Rim, we are actively working towards establishing a presence in the region. In the meantime, we regularly participate in Scenic Rim markets, farm gate trails, and regional events, where visitors can taste our meads, meet the makers, and learn more about the craft of mead making.
Through these experiences, we aim to introduce more people to mead while celebrating the honey, producers, and agricultural heritage that make the Scenic Rim such a special destination.
