As the autumn weather settles in, it’s the perfect excuse to take a scenic drive to the country for the day and explore the roads less traveled… within 150km of your home, of course.
With the recent easing of restrictions, some of our favourite local restaurants and cafes are able to reopen, on a smaller scale, so you can enjoy a cosy meal in, or take a picnic hamper to your favourite spot. As always, we can guarantee fresh air and wide-open spaces.
We are so excited that Kooroomba Kitchen has reopened its doors. From Friday to Sunday guests can enjoy lunch at one of three sitting times, from 11am, with a limit of ten guests. It’s the perfect chance to try their culinary delights, which are full of local produce.

We know ewe will love visiting Towri Sheep Cheeses. This artisan sheep dairy, based in Allanview near Beaudesert, is the perfect place to stop on your country drive. You can meet some of the locals, including the 350 sheep and resident Jack Russell Honey Poo Davidson (she’s even got her own Instagram!). You won’t want to leave until you’ve tried some of their delicious sheep cheeses yourself, or you can grab some to go.

A must-visit on your country drive is Tommerup’s Dairy Farm. You can collect a range of local produce from their farm larder, including their award-winning butter, ice cream, meats, eggs and other Scenic Rim produce. It’s best enjoyed while having a picnic on their property, or perfect to fill your empty esky with to take with you! Kay and Dave have a range of animals on show at their farm including dairy cows, sheep, pigs, chickens and Jack Russells. It sure is an authentic farm experience!

The Summer Land Camels cafe is now open and will be serving a delicious new brunch menu. It is open from 8am – 3pm Saturday and 9am – 3pm Sunday. Enjoy your brunch either on the deck (10 people at a time) or bring your picnic blanket to enjoy on the grounds while surrounded by friendly camels and the stunning Scenic Rim scenery.
They will also be offering their farm tours every Saturday and Sunday at 10am and 11am, where you can learn about camels and the important role they have played in Australia’s history.Visitoris will even get a chance to take a look at the dairy and how they milk them, view the processing building where they make their award-winning dairy products such as Persian feta and gelato, and beautiful camel milk skincare. The tour is approximately 1 hour and ends with product tasting and sampling of the skincare range.

Caz Osborne is known for her Scenic Rim Cooking Classes, locally made chutneys and relishes and her impressive hampers and platters. Feeling thirsty? Mt Alford’s Scenic Rim Brewery is now open on Saturday and Sunday from 10am – 2pm for takeaway beer purchases only. You can also pre-order their delicious hampers to take with you and enjoy in the many beautiful spots in the Scenic Rim, like the banks of Lake Moogerah.

As the weather starts to cool down and we’re reminded that it’s autumn, it’s the perfect time to reach for some comfort food.
