“I love being outdoors, so living here I am constantly amazed and inspired by the beauty and diversity of the region. We also have access to an abundance of the freshest produce.” – Gemma Irwin
Coco and Myrtle is your full ‘paddock to bath’ experience with a range of luxurious, all natural bath and body products including soaps, oils and bath fizzers that are made with some of Scenic Rim’s best local produce.
Boonah-based husband and wife duo, Gemma and Clint Irwin, are the brains behind Coco & Myrtle and are passionate about supporting and showcasing local producers from the Scenic Rim.
“Our natural Scenic Rim soap range features locally grown beetroots, carrots, cucumbers, locally harvested raw honey, Jersey cream direct from Tommerup’s Dairy Farm and spray-free flowers and botanicals,” Gemma said.
“Each of our Scenic Rim soaps are named after locations, mountains or people in the region and it’s important to us that they tell a story and link the user right back to this beautiful region. We want each product to create a sense of nostalgia and remind people of the place they grew up, where they holidayed as children or their own family history.”
Gemma grew up in Northeast Victoria and Clint in Brisbane, but moved to their ‘piece of paradise in the Scenic Rim’ in 2016 and are now very much a part of the Scenic Rim community.
Gemma says the Scenic Rim reminded her of where she grew up and as soon as they visited the Scenic Rim, they knew they wanted to settle here and start their own business.
“The best way for me to start my very own business here was to find a way to combine all of the things I’m most passionate about: supporting local business, advocating for the region, loving local produce combined with my interest in creatively using natural products and living a happy, healthy life.”
And they definitely made the right decision as Coco & Myrtle continues to grow, even being featured in the nationwide #buyfromthebush campaign. But it’s the positive customer experiences and responses to their products that mean the most to Gemma.
“We love it when our customers make the change to our natural products and then tell us they are so happy to be supporting multiple local businesses and doing their bit for the environment by eliminating plastic,” she said.
“It’s also great when farmers contact us and ask if we would like to create a product with their vegetable and collaborate with them because they believe in what we do.”
And what do they love most about the Scenic Rim?
“I love being outdoors so living here I am constantly amazed and inspired by the beauty and diversity of the region. We have access to an abundance of the freshest produce.
Clint and I love exploring the National Parks and finding secluded camping spots with access to creeks. Lions Road through to the Border Ranges National Park is a beautiful spot.”
When you’re next visiting the Scenic Rim don’t forget to grab your own luxurious Coco & Myrtle products from a range of local shops and farm gates, or shop directly from their online store.
